Financial assistance awards are given based on demonstrated need from qualifying families in the Club. Awards range from 20%-70% of annual registration fees – FC Boulder does not provide any family with an award that covers 100% of the participation fees.
We follow specific guidelines when awarding financial assistance, guided in part by IRS regulations governing the financial activity of non-profit entities. Families must submit an application to the Club for consideration of an award. The application contains information about the family – number of children living at home, income verification, work history, etc. As part of the application, we require those children of appropriate age to submit an essay about the importance of soccer in their lives. Families with an annual gross income less than $55,000 are currently eligible to apply for financial assistance.
Applications are reviewed by the club’s financial assistance committee and if maximum thresholds for annual income are not exceeded, and all other elements of the application are in order, the application is categorized based on a matrix that considers yearly family income, as well as the number of family members living in the household. (The matrix used in awarding financial assistance is based largely on a similar evaluative tool used by the YMCA for their scholarship program).
